Kyra Afolabi

Kyra Afolabi, a St. Louis native, is studying Business Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Although just beginning her undergraduate journey, she can already identify how much she is benefiting from the Bloch School of Management; and knows this new knowledge will be incredibly useful in her academic and professional journey.

Kyra has always thrived in leadership positions and finds it fascinating being in a fun, collaborative internship environment where everyone’s ideas are heard and valued.  Kyra is growing her leadership skills, offering academic support and mentoring in two different positions at UMKC. She is guiding first generation and transfer college students, as well as serving as a residential hall assistant. Kyra has also been an active member of The DeBruce Foundation Career Corps. In this role, she assists with advising The Foundation on its projects, while also developing her professional skills and serving as a voice for her peers. Kyra is passionate about using her voice to help elevate others in their own journeys. She is excited to now work with clients and do the same.

Kyra’s long-term career goal is to work with a nonprofit organization serving underprivileged youth. As someone who benefited from programs and services as a kid, she feels her vocation in life is to help serve and provide opportunities for at-risk youth.
