Happy Black History Month!

While this month is a time to commemorate the achievements of Black Americans throughout history, there are remarkable Black people who have had great wins this year in 2024.

We all have our historical figures who we will always remember for their past work and success, but I’d like to highlight a few Black people who are cementing their legacy for the future:

  • Megan Thee Stallion achieved her first solo #1 with her “HISS” single on the Hot 100.
  • Victoria Monet won Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Awards.
  • Keke Palmer became the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host as the Password host.
  • Quinta Brunson and Ayo Edebiri are the first Black women to win Emmys together in the respective categories of Outstanding Lead and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
  • Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl win.
  • And last, but certainly not least… Beyoncé announced her “act: ii” release date of 3/29 with two new country singles. “Texas Hold ‘Em” reached number #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, making her the first Black woman to achieve this. (Sidenote: Feel free to let me know which one you like more – I like “16 Carriages!”)
